The Tyger
JUSTIN: We never much cared for the "the common folk are so dumb" type humor. Blanketing all students as dumb was not only too easy of a joke, but it also never rang true to us personally. On the contrary, most college classes were basically giant Bell Curves with a few kids who were too smart, and a few who were not quite smart enough. In this strip, Amanda plays the part of one not quite smart enough.
OFTEN MISSED: Despite the assertion that most students are fairly intelligent, the truth is that most would not be able to pick out and name a reference to a Romantic poet. In this case, the poem in question is William Blake’s The Tyger from his book Songs of Experience. Blake happens to be Justin’s favorite poet.
