Evil Beard

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

beard Evil Beard was introduced in the first strip, and has stuck around to become one of the most commonly used characters. The basic idea behind him was to create a character much like Professor Hobo, but with a definite mean streak.

Evil Beard teaches creative writing and is the head of the Department of English. In his creative writing classes he stresses that nothing his students’ write is good enough for publication, due mostly to the fact that he has never had one of his books published. He often finds himself torn between the good nature of Professor Hobo, and the evil of Dr. Klownus and Mr. Mittens.

Dr. Klownus

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

klownus Dr. Klownus was introduced the same week as two other characters—Dr. Bones and the Selecting Hat. For whatever bizarre reason, Dr Klownus is the one who has turned into more of a star character. He teaches German because no one else was teaching foreign language in the department yet.

Dr. Klownus is a lonely and grumpy character. He is constantly the butt of jokes because of his physical appearance (not a costume, he naturally has a clown’s face). He enjoys putting down American culture in comparison to his homeland of Germany, but in truth, he would never want to leave.

Megan

Monday, June 9th, 2008

megan Megan was the dramatic foil to Rick in many ways. People often assume she is stupid because she’s in a sorority, but it was such a stereotype we decided to make her more intelligent. She still has her share of silly lines, however.

Often annoyed by Rick, Megan still spends an incredible amount of time with him. The two have many of the same classes together as well as both being involved with Greek organizations. Megan recognizes the evil that Mr. Mittens does, but she is strangely drawn to him because, “He’s so darn cute!”

Steve

Monday, June 9th, 2008

steve If President Czar is to carry out his attempts at being evil, then he surely needs some foot soldiers to assist him. That’s where Racer Patrol comes in. The campus security force is more bungling than evil, and ignorance can be blamed for all but their most heinous of acts.

Racer Patrol monitors campus by night to make sure no laws are being broken. During the day, however, they serve as pawns to President Czar’s plans. Part of their job is the beautification of campus by keeping hobos and nefarious characters from wandering onto campus. Steve is President Czar’s right-hand man in Racer Patrol.

Tom

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

tom What does one do when college is simply an inconvenience from listening to your bootleg Phish and Grateful Dead concerts? Tom joined the Tri-Lambdas. A bit out of it at any given moment, Tom can usually be found wondering around the background of fraternity events.

While he may not seem the most dedicated of students, Tom is actually studying to be a workplace safety engineer…when he goes to class. He lives alone in the frat house, and no one else dares enter his room alone.

Jabez

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

jabez Let it be known that both of us are Christians. However, having been in college for a tad under a decade now, we have come to despise at times the over zealous religious nuts who barrage anyone and everyone. Jabez is representative of this scary campus group.

Named by his parents for the religious figure, Jabez is involved with the Jolly 4 Jesus (not affiliated with Jolly 4 Vishnu) campus ministry group on campus. His intentions are truly good, but unfortunately he makes even the most religious person cringe at sight.

Bonafide T. Gator

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

bonafide What is the most disturbing idea we have ever had for a character? There’s lots of characters who never quite make it into a strip, but here was one that was simply too twisted not to include. The sad part? Few ever recognize that Bonafide is a commentary on judging by looks.

Bonafide is a gator on a mission—a mission to baby-sit children. The problem? Everyone recognizes that he is a gator and assumes he just secretly wants to eat their children the moment they leave them. But Bonafide has a “garontee” he will not, and he actually means it!

Female Professor

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

female Early in the life of the comic we had already created several male professors. However, what we did not have were some female professors. So in the interest of gender equity (and romantic interest for our lead), we added her.

Female Professor, as far as we can tell, teaches humanities at the university. She is the nice grandmotherly type. She is also perhaps the only character who has better moral character than Professor Hobo. Often she finds herself in disbelief at the world around her, and we assume this is how many of the women we know feel when in our company.
