Usually teachers are excited for a student to ask a question. We want students engaged. There’s a moment we realize that they’re actually asking something we’ve already said four or five times. In that moment you can see pride turn to disgust. Go ahead, kill a little bit of your teacher’s soul.

Most professors genuinely want to be good teachers. Many, however, have no idea what abstract phrases like “engage the student” mean. This is basically how most of those meetings end up.

I feel bad for people who just aren’t that much into football and get asked about it constantly the next day. THe Super Bowl is cool and all, but not everybody really cares. That being said, it was a pretty amazing game. Did you see it?

It’s kind of funny when a player is superstitious and refuses to change their socks during a winning streak. It’s kind of sad when a fan does the same thing. You hope that they’re just kidding and don’t actually believe they have anything to do with the game.

You hope.

As noted on a previous post, there’s just something funny about fans who think they truly are part of a sports team. They use “we” to talk about the team, and sometimes will even talk about strategy on the field they personally need to implement. Better yet are those fans who think their mundane life choices are the difference between a win or loss (i.e. “I only wear black socks on game day!”).

Coaches must get tired of the “we” when winning, because they remember it wasn’t often there when they were losing.

The Racers of Murray State University (where Professor Hobo began) are currently 21-0, and the last undefeated team in men’s college basketball. Pretty cool, huh? Yes, though suddenly everyone feels like they had some part in it. That’s the weird thing about sports–everyone feels they’re on the team.

Oh well. Go Racers.

This is a fairly common occurrence in a college classroom. Oddly, the student doesn’t even have to have the luxury of a cell phone to distract them, as simply their own mind is often enough. Of course, there are probably a lot more who never ask, and I assume they have enough shame to not out themselves as not listening.

I am a huge fan of sugared cereal. In fact, I’m not sure things without sugar deserve to be called cereal. I suppose they’re basically porridge.

I like Froot Loops, Lucky Charms, and assorted other cereals that will surely give me a heart-attack before I’m 40. I’m guessing the fruit in Froot Loops is misspelled for legal reasons, since they contain nothing remotely close to fruit.

At this point, I’m not even sure people care who gets the Republican nomination for President. I think a large majority of people are just being entertained by the best series on television this year. You have plot twists with Herman Cain, and emotional breakdowns with Rick Perry. You have the straight man in Mitt Romney, and the crazy uncle in Newt Gingrich. Or maybe that’s Ron Paul?

Regardless of plot developments, I think both Democrats and Republicans are so entertained they hate to see all this end.

I always feel this way when someone starts telling me the importance of some video game or movie. Sure, many are culturally significant, but rarely are they as important to the world as they are to the individual. And usually even then they’re not nearly as important to that person as they at first believe.

In other news, that guy playing Batman was pretty awesome.
