I always found it interesting that television networks would do black history programs on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and in February to show they cared, but then basically forget the rest of the year. They had to realize how transparent that was, and so they had to realize we all knew. I always figured that was probably a bigger insult than doing nothing at all.

There are always about five more steps involved in any meeting than seem necessary. I don’t think there’s a meeting I attend where I don’t receive at least three or four emails beforehand relating to it. There must be a quota for the number of contact instances managers must make.

I think the sexes often view one another through strange prisms. I hear men refer to women in terms of a game or sport, and women refer to men with shopping terms. Of course, when the man no longer coordinates well like a good purse, they want to return him. And you know how mad men get when they feel like a video game is cheating? Wait, on second thought, that would make a good future strip.

I like to joke that a random number generator would make the job of a teacher a lot easier. For a large percentage of students it wouldn’t even matter, because they simply don’t care. Still, it feels ever so slightly unethical. Maybe if they were just drawn from a hat?

Pajama Jeans are one of those great products that seem completely ridiculous at first, but the more you see their ads the more they bore deep into your brain and won’t ever leave. The entire concept is silly, but the fact that people must be buying them in order for them to continue advertising is plain absurd.

Giving your child a Biblical name can often be a good thing. Names like Mary, John, Joseph, Sarah, etc. are common and easy to remember. Of course, there are more difficult Biblical names. Methuselah is certainly one, but I’m more intrigued by the type of person who isn’t very religious and chooses a name at random. I can’t wait to have a student named Beelzebub.

It must have been really tough to be Joseph. What were father-son events like? If he lost in the three-legged race, Joseph must have known Jesus was thinking, “If only my real dad were here.”
