Read the blog comments above and then reread the comic. We’re making fun of that sort of goofy extremist, though not all religious folks. Extremists tend to misunderstand language, which is the case in the comic. Ask most people to end someone’s suffrage and they will assume it’s a fancy word for suffering, which is why it often pops up mistakenly in student writing.

I’m kind of curious as to what you meant by “Helping to end Christian suffrage”. I would certainly agree with the idea because people that deluded really shouldn’t be allowed to vote, but I’m going to guess that isn’t what you meant. None of the dictionary definitions of “suffrage” make any more sense than that example.

Suffrage – noun
1. the right to vote, especially in a political election. 2. a vote given in favor of a proposed measure, candidate, or the like. 3. Ecclesiastical . a prayer, especially a short intercessory prayer or petition.

I will return at a later date in the hope you have answered this because it is confusing to say the least, unless you actually misunderstood the word yourself.
