Having been a teacher for a number of years, it is always amazing the variety of excuses that students will come up with to defend cheating. This is not based on an actual instance–those would be far too bizarre even for a bizarre comic strip. However, it cuts to the core defense many like to fall back on now–something vaguely legal/technical they’ve read in passing while on the Internet. These are always the best defenses in life.

Poor Rick. Sure, being consistently confused is just part of his character. But does he really have to be confused about religion, as well? Of course Rick, like all of our characters, tends to be a broad stand-in for people we actually know. And yes, we know people who ask questions like these.

On a different note, when did Donald Trump become the premiere business man to emulate? Hasn’t he gone broke and lost his empire at least once so far? And then there were all those articles about he’s really not a billionaire–should he really be teaching people how to behave in business? Isn’t that sort of like Oliver Nroth giving out military advice?

So, here’s an interesting conundrum. Is this joke funny, or is it just mean? There’s certainly a delicate balance to be walked there, but we don’t think it goes too far. Regardless, the impetus for this joke stems from David’s days as a pizza delivery guy. In fact, there’s probably a whole spin-off comic strip just waiting to be given life from those stories. But no, David did not give free pizza to hot girls. Well, not that he will admit at least.

New site design

The Professor Hobo site has recently undergone two redesigns. The first was to bring it more in line with the rest of the SassyKat Media properties. With that switch over (which entailed quite a bit of work) complete, work began on a site that would better showcase the comic strip. That redesign is now finished and what you are viewing. Minor tweaks will continue as we move forward, but our hope is this new design will make accessing the content easier than ever.
