Colleges do a lot these days to educate students about health and wellness. Obviously one of the biggest targets for this is the dreaded freshman fifteen. It’s become so dramatized that at times it seems like an invading boogeyman that simply can’t be avoided.

You know another good show they cancelled? Drive. Sure, it wasn’t great after the six or so episodes that actually aired, but it showed the promise of being pretty good. Maybe there should be a sort of majors and minors of network programming? If you do well on NBC you get to stay, but if you struggle they demote you to the USA Network where you get at least another season to try to find an audience.

I always appreciated as a kid when they showed superheroes in other places around the world. No, not because I was so enlightened at ten, but because I always worried if Superman was always busy in one town, didn’t all the other cities need someone to save them? Yes, comic books stressed me.

While not actually originating from one of our conversations, this does seem very close. I like the idea of pitting fictional characters against one another. Sadly, most people stick with obvious targets like Freddy vs Jason. I prefer to think of cereal mascots like Tony the Tiger or Lucky the Leprechaun from Lucky Charms battling. A small does of Calvin and Hobbes never hurt anything, really.

Vague Facebook status updates just about ruin it for me. Even worse, some people I really like are the worst offenders. Look, if it’s too personal to post about in any detail, then it’s probably too personal to post about even vaguely. Not everything has to be shared. Except crabs. You should probably let others know you’re afflicted. For safety reasons.

There’s always an awkward moment when people flirt with someone more or less cool than themselves. It breaks one of the fundamental laws of the universe, and you can simply pray that the reverberations from it don’t destroy us all. In other words? If you know what Doctor Who is, don’t try flirting with people who don’t.

If scary movies can give children nightmares, then surely difficult video games must be similar, right? Zelda and Mario never gave me nightmares, but I do remember a few dreams populated by Tetris pieces. Those were rough years, 24-27.

This strip stems from visiting the campus library and noticing almost no students are ever looking at books. The ones who are seem to be eying them suspiciously. Perhaps they’re contemplating uses other than reading?

I’m sure someone will write in response to this strip that the Tea Party or Obama cannot be as simply explained as we attempt. I’ll just go ahead and counter in advance that this person is just a bitter Vanilla Ice fan. Move on, friend.
