If you’re unaware, a woman really is suing the distributors of Drive because she thought it looked like another Fast and Furious type film. It’s not. While I might have some qualms with Drive, make no mistake about what kind of film it is. It’s an art house film with very light trappings of a car chase film.
Still, who sues because they don’t like a movie?
I may have been a little bitter when I wrote this strip. This weekend I saw 50/50 starring Seth Rogen. I could have done with 50% less Seth Rogen in the film. Before the movie even began I had to watch a trailer for Katherine Heil’s new film, One for the Money. It’s a trailer so bad you assume someone had to be making it as a spoof, but alas that is not the case.
Don’t even get me started on watching them together in Knocked Up. I know lots of people love it, but since I can’t stand either lead, it’s really hard for me to find enjoyment in it.
As one can guess, this strip was inspired by an actual event at a movie theater. I’m all for people enjoying the movie, but why do some people feel the need to repeat lines of dialogue back at the screen? What does this do for some people? Please, see another movie.
I can recall upon the release of Jurassic Park someone saying the dinosaurs looked so real it was difficult to tell when they were real and when they were fake. Now, I assume I know what this person meant (CG versus practical effects), but what they said worried me they thought maybe there were some off in a zoo.
Considering all the superhero films coming out this summer, it would be more appropriate for this to be the plot of Super 8. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’d bet even money this ends up as a segment on Sesame Street.
I’ll be honest, movie theater butter has never really tasted real to me. I know I’m not alone in this, but what does surprise me is how bad some theaters get it. In other words, not all fake butter is created equal. In fact, some of it is forged in the mountains of Mordor, I’m fairly certain. This is to say nothing of the suspicious looks I get when I turned down this evil incarnate butter.
Chocolate covered gummy bears, or Muddy Bears, are a real candy. Apparently there are several different companies producing these, and I for one think these people are sick. Gummy candy and chocolate are two tastes that don’t go together. It’s like a few years back when McDonald’s made their McGriddle breakfast sandwiches that are essentially syrup flavored pancakes around a piece of sausage. Syrup and sausage are two tastes that do not go together.
Then again, they’re still selling both of these products, so what do I know?
THis strip stems from a real problem I have at the movies. It seems if I order a medium Coke and popcorn it would be clear I wanted both medium. Sure, I understand just trying to be sure, but why not ask, “So a medium on both?” It doesn’t seem so confusing, but perhaps there’s some training video that warns against these types of situations for popcorn pushers.
It would be hard to be a pirate these days. If the French military isn’t chasing you off the coast of Africa, apparently all the artists of the world collectively hate you. I wonder if that means Johnny Depp is full of self-loathing?
Some movies are just stupid fun. Turn off your brain and don’t think too much about them. Don’t be “that guy”.
