I understand that many, many managers like to play power games, but it seems like some get dangerously close to someone getting hurt. A general rule might be to treat your employees in a meeting at least as well as Jigsaw would treat captives in the Saw films.

I once saw a university with not only a football field, and not only a practice field, but also a warm-up field and conditioning field. I think the football team was literally running around campus just placing their names on any patch of grass. What fun.

Administrators are always convinced they’re worth at least double whatever they’re currently being paid. Too many people also use this bluff to try to get more money, when in truth everyone is busily trying to figure out a way to get rid of them. Must work sometime or they wouldn’t keep trying.

Education is just like any other business in that they’re always following trends. Unfortunately for education, it isn’t like other businesses. Trying to be trendy usually just exposes those in charge as not thinking through things, if thinking at all.

There are always about five more steps involved in any meeting than seem necessary. I don’t think there’s a meeting I attend where I don’t receive at least three or four emails beforehand relating to it. There must be a quota for the number of contact instances managers must make.

Coach T is so proud of everything he says, does, thinks, or perhaps even passes by on the street. Pairing him with someone arrogant like President Czar usually results in humor, regardless of what we do. This is assembly line humor.
